Welcome to Spring!
Dear Pittsburgh Chapter IMA Members:
The weather is turning the corner and trends are looking good for a return to (somewhat) normal. As the season has changed, so has the leadership in our Chapter. With the retirement of one of our long-serving and distinguished Board Members, Jim Nelson, Treasurer, our President, Keith Schwarz, assumed the Treasurer role. I had the great honor of being nominated to succeed Keith as President. I would like to thank Jim for all he has done for the Profession, the Chapter, and the IMA and wish him well in retirement. Keith, also a long serving and distinguished Board member, has been a great help to me and I thank him for his service and his mentorship. Another Board Member change is the addition of Chad DesMarteau. Chad has succeeded me in the VP of Engagement role. The Annual Call for Volunteers has prompted interest from others as well– look for more Board additions to come. I am appreciative of and humbled by our Board for their expertise and assistance and support in this time of transition. I encourage you to attend the Open Board Meeting in May which we will hold in hybrid mode and hope you will find an opportunity to engage and volunteer.
We have increased Chapter activity in 2022 and have some exciting events for the rest of the year. Plans are underway for a Pirate Game and an outing at Five Iron Golf in Market Square. Pittsburgh will be very visible this year with the Annual Student Leadership Conference held at the Wyndham Grand October 20-22, 2022. There is a groundswell of interest in building student chapters within our geographic region and the Annual Student Leadership Conference dovetails nicely into that effort. Of course there will be meaningful educational programming added to our calendar as well. In addition, the Chapter has been looking for ways to reach our Fellow Chapter Members who are not in close proximity to the City of Pittsburgh. Ideas are welcome-- please email email@example.com. I look forward to meeting you at one of our events soon.
Best wishes for a productive Spring!
